Felix Baumgartner’s jump from the space capsule Red Bull Stratos from an altitude of 38.6 km caused a sensation in social networks: people watched what was happening through PCs, tablets and phones. The jump gathered an audience record for Internet broadcasts - at the time of Baumgartner’s separation from the capsule, about 8 million people watched the event.
The jump was prepared by Baumgartner and a team of scientists since 2010 and was funded by Red Bull, which determined the name of the project - - Red Bull Stratos. The company has harvested a powerful harvest of attention. The higher Baumgartner climbed, the faster the number of people following him through the YouTube channel grew. At the time before the jump, 7.3 million people watched him. They should be added to those who watched the jump on the Discovery channel. The jump was broadcast live in 50 countries.
After landing, the sponsor of the Red Bull jump instantly posted a daredevil photo on his Facebook page. Over the next 40 minutes, the photo collected 216,000 likes and more than 10,000 comments. Representatives of Red Bull also said that Baumgartner can be asked questions on their pages on FB and via Twitter, and promised that three of them will be answered by a paratrooper during his press conference.
The jump also made a small revolution on Twitter, for the first time in a long time, moving the hashtag with Justin Bieber from first place. During the jump, more than half of all tags contained the word "jump".
